It depend in which department you want to go. If you choose Navigation department than you have to pass out 12th standard with 60% marks in PCM & 50% marks in English. Same education qualification for Engineering Department.
Now,I'm going to tell you how you can join. You have to take sponsorship first from company you want to join.There are many companies like Anglo, Great Eastern,ESM….. Remember these companies are private.Fill registration form of either company, go there pass out entrance exam,cross medical test & interview.Than you have to pass out IMUCET( Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test). When you cross this test,you are ready to join batch. IMU conduct exam two times in a year( In November or in June).

If you are graduated than you can do MBA & BBA in shipping. These are recently introduce by IMU.
Basic eligibility criteria:-

you can either join B.Sc. Nautical science (Navigation/Deck side) or B.Tech. Marine engineer (Engine side).
eyesight should not be colorblind.
6/6 vision compulsory for B.Sc. Nautical science
for B.Tech. Marine Engineer eye sight is relaxed upto 6/9 or 6/12
