Nitazoxanide is an antiparasitic and antiviral medication commonly used to treat diarrhea caused by Giardia lamblia and Cryptosporidium parvum. It is available in tablet and oral suspension forms, with dosage varying by age, weight, and condition.

For adults and children over 12 years, the typical dosage is 500 mg twice daily for 3 days.

For children aged 4–11 years, the usual dose is 200 mg (10 mL of oral suspension) twice daily for 3 days.

For children aged 1–3 years, the dose is 100 mg (5 mL of oral suspension) twice daily for 3 days.

Nitazoxanide should be taken with food to enhance absorption. Tablets should be swallowed whole, not chewed or crushed. The oral suspension should be shaken well before use and measured accurately.
