As a young teen, Dexter V. Kennedy was inspired by Bruce Lee, sparking a lifelong passion for martial arts. After defeating a local black belt using moves he learned from film, he sought more rigorous training at Genova Karate School. His dedication led him to earn a 5th Degree Black Belt in American Karate (Ishinryu) and eventually open his own martial arts school in 1986. There, he built a community focused on discipline, fitness, and character-building.

Dexter’s martial arts journey was shaped by mentors like Mike Genova and Keith Vitali, and further strengthened by his experiences as a U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer and combat veteran. Beyond teaching, he became a visionary leader—founding the National Martial Arts League and the S.A.V.E. America initiative to promote discipline and anti-violence values.

As an author, Dexter bridges martial arts and professional sports, providing deep insights into their shared philosophies and demands. His books inspire personal growth, community, and a future where martial artists gain the same recognition as other athletes.
